The Audio-Technica AT6181DL Stroboscope Disc and Quartz Strobe Light is a dedicated turntable speed-checking kit designed to help accurately verify the rotational speed of a record player. It combines a precision stroboscope disc with a dedicated LED strobe light, making it suitable for turntable setup, maintenance, and analog audio enthusiasts.

The stroboscope supports 33⅓ RPM, 45 RPM, and 78 RPM, allowing users to check the most common vinyl playback speeds, including 78 RPM records. The included strobe light produces a highly visible yellow LED flashing pattern that makes the speed markings on the disc easy to observe during operation.

To check turntable speed, the stroboscope disc is placed over the turntable spindle and rotated at the desired speed. The dedicated strobe light is then aimed at the appropriate markings on the disc. When the markings appear stationary, the turntable is operating at the corresponding rotational speed; movement of the markings indicates a speed difference that can be adjusted on the turntable where adjustment is available.

Unlike a conventional stroboscope disc that depends on suitable room lighting, the AT6181DL includes its own dedicated strobe light. This makes it particularly useful in environments using LED or inverter-type lighting, where conventional mains-frequency stroboscopic checking may not work properly.

The kit also includes a convenient overhang gauge for cartridge setup. By selecting the appropriate markings according to the tonearm specification, users can position the cartridge stylus correctly for the intended overhang adjustment. This adds practical value for turntable installation and cartridge alignment.

The stroboscope disc measures approximately 104 mm in diameter and weighs about 35 g. The dedicated strobe light measures approximately 115 × 32 × 19 mm and weighs approximately 35 g without batteries. It operates from two separately purchased AAA alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries and provides approximately 8 hours of continuous operation.
