The Audio-Technica AT6180a Stroboscope Disc is a precision turntable accessory designed to help check the rotational speed of a record player. It allows users to visually monitor whether a turntable is rotating at the correct speed, making it a useful tool for vinyl enthusiasts, audiophiles, DJs, and turntable owners.

Designed for 33⅓ RPM and 45 RPM playback, the AT6180a supports both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power frequencies. When used under a compatible fluorescent light, the printed stroboscopic markings can be observed while the disc rotates. When the markings appear stationary, the turntable’s rotational speed is correctly matched to the selected setting.

The AT6180a also incorporates a convenient 10–20 mm overhang gauge, allowing users to assist with cartridge positioning and stylus overhang adjustment. This makes it useful not only for checking platter speed but also as a practical setup accessory for analog playback systems.

Compact and lightweight, the disc measures approximately 104 mm in diameter and weighs around 8 g, making it easy to place on a turntable spindle and store when not in use. Its simple design makes speed checking straightforward without requiring a separate electronic speed-measuring device.

For accurate operation, Audio-Technica specifies using the AT6180a under suitable fluorescent lighting. LED lighting, inverter-type fluorescent lamps, incandescent lamps, and mercury lamps are not suitable for viewing the stroboscopic markings.
